What is RSS?

Simply put, RSS is an easy way to keep up-to-date on web sites that are updated frequently. Many sites offer what is called an RSS "feed" which is updated when the site is updated, when new information becomes available, or when a new blog entry is posted.

All you need is a feed reader, many of which are available for free, and some of which are web-based. Once you've subscribed using your feed reader, updates will be available to you automatically, without the need to continuously check sites to see if they've been updated, and without the need to subscribe to a mailing list.
