Spatial View is pleased to announce that it has recently become an overseas member of the 3D Consortium. Founded in 2003 by Japanese companies Itochu, NTT Data, Sanyo Electric Company, Sharp, and Sony, the 3D Consortium was formed with the aim of developing 3D stereoscopic display devices, increasing their use and availability, promoting the expansion and distribution of available 3D content, and contributing to the development and subsequent expansion of the 3D market.

Along with the more than 100 other companies worldwide, among them hardware manufacturers, software vendors, content vendors, content providers, system integrators, image producers, broadcasting agencies, and academic organizations that comprise the 3D Consortium, Spatial View has joined in the  promotion of, educating about, and advancement of 3D.  

Among the 3D Consortium's activities are conferences and working groups revolving around the many different aspects concerning 3D technology and 3D content, and its delivery and acceptance. They range from the technical: standardization of formats, hardware and display technologies, and broadcasting, to the creative: shooting for 3D, and content creation, all the way to the business side: following 3D trends and creating strategies. The 3D Consortium is based in Japan but has a large and significantly active overseas membership group of which Spatial View is a proud member.
