Auto-stereoscopic Microscope Opening a New Dimension in Microsurgery, on View at the AAO in New Orleans, November 10-13, 2007.

November 10, 2007 - Toronto, ON Canada -Spatial View is pleased to announce that Moeller-Wedel, GmbH will be showing a new auto-stereoscopic surgical microscope that incorporates Spatial View's 3D LiveVideo system at the 2007 annual meeting and exhibition of the American Academy of Ophthalmology in New Orleans, LA USA. Moeller-Wedel, GmbH is a world renowned manufacturer of surgical microscopes for use in ophthalmology, dentistry, neurosurgery, and reconstructive surgery.

The auto-stereoscopic microscope is the first commercial use of Spatial View's 3D LiveVideo. The device features two Point Grey cameras mounted via C-mount. Each of the extremely small cameras (30mm x 29mm x 42mm) has a resolution of 1024x768. The cameras are attached via firewire to a PC where the two video streams are interlaced using the software component of SVI 3D LiveVideo. The subsequent stereo video is displayed in real time on a SeeFront 3D SU 2119, 21" auto-stereoscopic display.

The SeeFront 3D SU 2119's high resolution of 1600x1200 meets the strong demands of medical practice as it's based on the EIZO Radiforce S2100M monitor, designed for clinical review. The live 3D video from the microscope can be viewed easily, without the need for stereo glasses of any kind. A tracking system, which is part of the SeeFront screen, perpetually records the viewer's position in front of the display and the screen image is automatically and instantly updated to match this position, ensuring a perfect, comfortable, and natural, glasses-free 3D experience.

The microscope is designed primarily as a microsurgery tool, giving surgeons a new found ability and freedom to work with live, high resolution stereo video. The SVI 3D LiveVideo system also features tools for masking and saving the stereo video and images as well as for controlling and adjusting camera and image settings and stereo depth.

The auto-stereo microscope can be seen at:

About SeeFront GmbH

SeeFront offers a unique technology for the design of autostereoscopic 3D-displays that deliver the highest image quality for a single user. Founded in 2006 by German engineer Christoph Grossmann, Canadian 3D company Spatial View Inc. and Swedish scientist Siamak Khatibi, Ph.D., SeeFront develops this revolutionary technology that soon will make "personal" 3D displays accessible and affordable for professional organizations as well as consumers worldwide. Due to the extreme flexibility of the patented SeeFront process, design options range from miniature displays with a small viewing distance and the highest pixel density to the use of the latest 30" TFT panels with 4 Megapixel resolution and beyond. In all fields of application, SeeFront provides the technical basis for individual 3D-Display solutions with any desired image quality, which can be developed with short time-to-market and favorable cost of development. www.seefront.com
